Timeless Pages is a history-exploring group that digs below these modern stereotypes of history and discovers history for what it really is — a treasure-filled past that holds gems of excitement, adventure, and discovery. Reading historical fiction is one of the best ways to explore this exciting past. I mean, hey, there's always something to learn from the events of yesteryear. So in this group we love to read historical fiction that is clean and upholds Christian morals and values. But remember: when you read, it's more than just reading words on a page — you're falling through the pages of your book, leaving the present world, and entering a different place and time — you become a person who is a living figure in history (okay, maybe it's not that dramatic)! Timeless Pages is a Christ-based group; so the topics we discuss will be clean and appropriate for every age. And, of course, since this is a history group, we will talk about real history — its events, people, and places. (That may have been obvious. 😂) So feel free to talk about your favorite event in history; or maybe you admire a certain historical figure for his/her courageous actions; or maybe you would like to talk about a certain city or nation that was a once a vital part of civilization; or perhaps you would like to bring out a lesson that modern civilization can learn from the events of the past. [close] Welcome to our new bookclub - here at the University of Canterbury bookshop we don't just specialize in textbooks for our on campus students but we have an incredibly wide variety of fiction and non fiction books. Within our bookclub we will be adding what books our staff are currently reading and what books they have loved previously to hopefully give you some recommendations. We also host events at our bookshop for newly published books and we aim to host a bookclub read along before the event.
