Deborah Harkness is a #1 New York Times bestselling author who draws on her expertise as an historian of science, medicine, and the history of the book to create rich narratives steeped in magical realism, historical curiosity, and deeply human questions about what it is that makes us who we are.

The first book in Harkness’s beloved All Souls series, A Discovery of Witches, was an instant New York Times bestseller and the series has since expanded with the addition of subsequent NYT bestsellers, Shadow of Night (2012), The Book of Life (2014), and Time’s Convert (2018), as well as the companion reader, The World of All Souls. Nicole Thanks for accepting my friendship! I'm reading A Discovery of Witches and I'm enchanted! It's so beautifully written and Diana is smart and strong and sassy and doesn't play damsel in distress which I love and Matthew is dreamy, intelligent and downright delicious! I love all the history and science mixed with the supernatural elements, it's all of my favorite things together, real accurate history and the paranormal! Thank you for writing such a beautiful story, I'm devouring it like Diana devours her books and Matthew devours Diana... I mean science... ;)

message 16: by Lexi

Lexi Thank you for such a wonderful book!

It had been collecting dust on my shelf for months since I'd purchased it. Then suddenly it seemed to call me on the eve of Halloween. I sat down after work and thought well maybe just a few chapters. As it happened I closed it, completed, the next afternoon without having slept.

It was refreshing and a nice change to read about vampires and witches that had substance beyond their supernatural abilities. I can't wait for the follow up books.
