کاستا ابروانش را بالا برد , و لبانش را پوزخندی پوشاند . به دخترک با گستاخی خیره شد , و بالاخره به طرف دختر طلسمی فرستاد.دختر فکر کرد این یکی چقدر مغروره, هم مغرو وهم متکبر ,و تمام چیزی هم که این مردک داشت غرور و تکبرش بود . این بازی را هم که شروع کرده بود انتظار داشت تا او نیز همبازیش شود . اما میدانست که در آخر نامیدش می کند.در دنیای که مردم با استعداد های مختلفی به دنیا می آیند – به توانمند معروف بودند- طوری رفتار می کردند تا دیگران از آنها بهراسند و در ترس باشند , کاستا هم جزو کسانی بود این استعداد بی بهره نبود و این نکته دختر را از او بیشتر بیزار می کرد. او در زیر اوامر عمویش شاه راندا از مید اندز بود , کارش اجرای قانون و تنبیه قانون شکنان بود یعنی کارهای کثیفی که یک شاه نمی توانست انجام دهد را او انجام میداد تا شاه راضی گردد.
زمانیکه او پرنس پو را دید کسیکه هنرهای رزمی به عنوان هدیده به او داده شده بود. کاستا حتی تصور نمیکرد که چگونه با خیره شدن و اجرای طلسم بر روی این دختر زندگیش را دگرگون می کند . او حتی تصور نمی کردد که یکی از دوستان پرنس پو گردد. و حتی نمی توانست باور کند که او نیز هدیه دیگری از استعدادها را دریافت کرده است.- یا دانستن رازی وحشتناک آنقدر وحشتناک ک ه می توانست تمامی کشور را تحت اشعاع تنها یک کلمه از ان بکند-.
